Helping People Live Their Best Possible Lives
United Way of Central Missouri fights for the health, education, financial stability and basic needs of every person in our community. We partner with 28 nonprofit health and human service agencies that help the hungry, the homeless, the powerless... seniors, babies, adults with disabilities and families torn apart by drug addiction, struggling to put food on the table or recovering and rebuilding their lives after the devastation from a tornado or flooding. We are United in our vision that together we should fight for a better future for all.
Our Manifesto
Problems. The ones many people don't know how to address... the ones that can't be solved alone. We go looking for them. In our cities, outlying counties, and seemingly innocent neighborhoods. We find every dollar we can to address them. But we are more than just the fundraisers. We are the handraisers. The game changers.
United we face food insecurity.
United we battle for those affected by mental and behavioral health issues.
United we confront illiteracy and provide mentorship programs.
No matter the obstacles. No matter the odds. We surround our community's most critical problems. And we fight. We fight for our neighbors, our co-workers, our families and our friends. We fight for those who need a voice and those whose names we do not know. Because change doesn't happen alone.
We have one life. To live better, we must LIVE UNITED.
Our Pillars
HEALTH: Building Strong, Healthy Communities
We work to ensure people have access to affordable & quality care--whether someone is without health insurance, a victim or abuse, or struggling with mental illness or an addiction--so they can lead safe, healthy and rewarding lives.
SingleCare, a partner initiative furthering our mission in the health pillar, is a discount prescription drug program available to families without prescription drug coverage or those that are under-insured. Learn more here!
EDUCATION: Giving Everyone An Equal Chance at Education
We connect young people with the tools, knowledge and resources they need to succeed in school, and ultimately in life.
Our Early Childhood Initiative furthers the mission in our education pillar and ensures children birth through 5 years old receive quality early learning opportunities, aids parents in positive parenting practices, and supports strong transition programming into kindergarten. FINANCIAL STABILITY: Breaking the Cycle of Poverty
We provide education, resources and opportunities needed to improve lives--because a better future begins with financial stability.
BASIC NEEDS: Meeting Our Neighbors' Basic Needs
We provide a safety net to support crisis and intervention services; including food, shelter, clothing and emergency/disaster services so people can live happy and healthy lives.
