Early Childhood Program Director

United Way of Central Missouri is seeking an Early Childhood Program Director to support efforts to raise awareness about early childhood development and coordinate community initiatives around quality early care and education and other community initiatives within the United Way of Central Missouri service area.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, coordinate and share community resources to prepare children for success in school and life.
  • Coordinate training and professional development sessions for early childhood professionals.
  • Coordinate Week of the Young Child activities as well as teacher appreciation activities.
  • Oversee monthly early childhood stakeholder meetings and quarterly early childhood provider meetings.
  • Educate youth groups and schools about the early childhood career path; elevate the early childhood profession.
  • Serve on the leadership team for Early Childhood Community Leaders for South Central Region; develop and implement goals for Early Childhood Community Leaders work.
  • Participate in the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce Workforce Coalition and be a resource for other Chamber of Commerces in our region.
  • Oversee Early Childhood Partners in Education (PIE) program with the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce and develop PIE programs in outlying counties.
  • Serve as a resource for early childhood providers and area schools and their Parents As Teachers organizations.
  • Attend health and human service meetings as well as community meetings within the United Way of Central Missouri service area.
  • Develop relationships in outlying counties with early childhood programs, businesses and other community organizations to identify community needs and gaps in services.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, early childhood, education or related field highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with educational and early childhood resources in the community.
  • Ability to establish good working relationships.
  • Organizational and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with central Missouri preferred.
  • Experience in building coalitions and program development.
